You've clicked submit and are waiting for March 10 when admissions decisions will be released. You may be one of the many students wondering, should I follow up on my application? In this post, we'll tackle some of the most commonly asked questions admissions offices get after applications are submitted.
Should I follow up on my application?
Ensuring your application is complete and submitted is critical during the admissions process. And, yes, you should follow up on your application to be certain that it is complete. However, calling the admissions office every day to check on the status of your application is not the best idea.
At Salisbury, applications are submitted online via the Standard Application Online portal or through Gateway to Prep Schools' online portal. You can log in and check on the status of your application anytime you like. If you do want to contact a school's admissions office to confirm that your file is complete, call or email your interviewer or the main admissions contact. Remember, this is a busy time for admissions offices, so be patient, it may take them a few days to respond.
How do I follow up on my application?
Start online. Most boarding schools use an online portal for their application process. Here, you can often find a checklist where you will see what has been submitted and what may still be missing from your file.
If a school does not use an online application portal, give them a call or send an email to ensure that your application is complete.
What if I still need to interview?
Most boarding schools require an interview during the application process. If you have applied to a school but have not interviewed, it is important to schedule the interview as soon as possible. Call or email the admissions office right away to schedule an interview.
Still need to visit campus?
If you have not visited campus and want to see life on the Hilltop in person, schedule a tour as soon as possible. Salisbury continues to welcome admissions visitors to campus. You can schedule your visit here.
What do I do if I missed the application deadline?
Don't panic. Many boarding schools accept applications on a rolling basis. Contact the school's admissions office to see if they accept applications after the deadline. If they are accepting applications, be sure to get yours completed as soon as possible. The earlier you apply, the better!
When (and how) will I find out if I'm accepted?
Most boarding schools operate on a schedule for application deadlines and decision dates. Most boarding schools will notify you of their decision on March 10. Most often, schools will contact you via email to share their decision.
Salisbury will be contacting all applicants via email on March 10 to notify them of their admissions decision. At that time, accepted students will also receive information on admitted student on-campus revisit days, admitted student virtual events, and financial aid awards (if applicable).
